Mitch McBonnell

Mitch McBonnell, known online as u/TheObstructor, spends his days rotating between playing the game NBA2K and dodging questions from his parents about when he'd get a job. Mitch had always like basketball as a whole, but he especially had a passion for blocking. He enjoyed using his 6'8 frame to obstruct peoples' view at movies and concerts whenever he got the chance. But the basketball court was where he got to truly indulge his passion. He played center for his high school team and was being considered for some major scholarships based on his shot-blocking ability.

However, Mitch's head coach was fired during his senior year and the team's defense sputtered. This took Mitch's ability to block shots away almost entirely, making him close to useless on the basketball court. His stats suffered and he lost his athletic scholarships soon after. Now, he lives vicariously through his NBA2K MyPlayer, still convinced that he is just honing his skills for when he eventually goes pro. Mitch is an active member of the subreddit r/nba2k, where he primarily releases internalized frustrations about his own life by complaining about the status of the game. For this reason, Mitch would be receptive to the ideas laid out in the open letter as they are in a similar line of critique.
